On Starting Britts Foods

Britts Foods was formed from my personal struggles with living a sustainabl[y] healthy lifestyle.

I was quite unhealthy as a teenager (actually Obese!) and in my early adult life in England, I unconsciously just changed my lifestyle in line with my new schedule as a college student and within months, saw the drastic weight loss achievement.

I attributed such changes to simple activities such as cutting down on the usual heavy carb-loaded [meals] to more packaged salads for lunch, taking longer walks, eating no later than 7pm, jogging 3 times a week.

I found I became more active, was definitely more productive at school.

Fast forward a few years later, I had moved along in my career path in Nigeria–

and unfortunately, my healthy lifestyle was out the window!

My daily routine changed to the rat-race lifestyle – waking up in the morning, drive to work, eat pastry for breakfast, Sit 8 or 9 hours at my desk, eat a heavy lunch, sit in the vehicle back home, get home at 9pm or so and then reward myself for the stress of undergoing lagos traffic via a chocolate bar or heavy dinner!

Yes, it was clearly not long before the weight piled on in full force (Haha!)

My clothes no longer fit and personally I was ashamed at how quickly I was becoming “the Orobo” again!

Also, this was obviously impacting on my productivity levels at work –

most times after the heavy lunch, I was honestly always sleepy-

which meant I wasn’t even adding my complete value to the organisation.

So like most people, I made a New Years Resolution to change my lifestyle in December 2014.

I was very determined to be healthy, and after several trips to supermarkets, open market etc, it was obvious that there was a true market gap in Nigeria for quality healthy products –

and so my struggle went from “Being Unhealthy” to “Where Can One Find Good Quality Healthy Food in Nigeria?” …

and that’s how Britts Foods began!
